Loam is a mixture of sand, organic material (such as leaves) and locally processed soil. It is mixed and finely screened down to 3/8 inches, making it perfect for use in vegetable and flower gardens. It can also be mixed into your own soil or commercially bought topsoil for use in new lawns, shrub beds, etc.
Off-Cape ape loam has a higher sand content than loam which is locally produced. Because of its drainage properties (due to the mixture of sand), this loam is excellent for starting new lawns.
Our On-Cape loam is a locally produced 100% recycled soil product. It is higher in organic matter than the Off-Cape loam. It is more affordable than loam brought from off Cape Cod, but not as suitable for establishing a new lawn. It is best use for flower, vegetable and mixed gardens.
